  • Mission statement

Home-Start Camden believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them to achieve their full potential.

    Our mission
Home-Start Camden offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children in the borough to increase the well being of the family. Home-Start Camden offers a unique service. We recruit and train volunteers who have parenting experience themselves to visit families with at least one child under five, at home, and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support.

    Our approach
Home-Start Camden recruits experienced parents to become volunteers for parents of Under 5's. We train the volunteers over 8 days, complete Safeguarding checks and supervise them so they can support the family under stress by visiting them weekly for as long as the family needs the support. Through this friendship and practical support the family, parent and child becomes stronger, less isolated and more able to cope and life improves through this regular non-judgemental help from a friendly parent.

    Our values
We aim to be fully accessible to those who want our services, and responsive to the needs of local families. We provide a confidential service which is respectful, flexible and non-judgmental.
