The Freshford Village Memorial Hall

We maintain Freshford Village Hall, with its adjacent recreation field and playground. The Hall is let out for use by a wide range of local clubs, the Pre-school and Primary school.

Founded 1964

  • Mission statement

Due to its age and build quality the Hall is approaching the end of its useful life, and running costs and maintenance are increasingly more expensive. Our vision is to modernise, enhance and extend the Hall to provide, with the adjacent Galleries shop, a welcoming and attractive multipurpose focus for local community activity, complementing its outstanding rural setting.
The proposed uses and requirements of a new Hall are:
    • Theatre, music and lecturing, including theatre production to suit 150
people with stage, greenroom etc and facilities for music concerts, lectures and public meetings.
    • Sporting activities including a badminton court, space for unihoc, 5 a
side football, archery, yoga and ballet.
    • Education and youth, including a permanent self-contained preschool
setting with the additional flexibility to accommodate classes from Freshford Primary school, after-school and holiday youth activities, and adult evening classes within the same space.
    • Small group meetings of the Parish Council, and local societies.
    • Evening functions, parties, dances.
    • Brownie camps.
    • Primary Care treatment accommodation including two consulting
rooms, a pharmacy and ancillary accommodation which should be
separate from the main hall, but designed to be used as alternative
    accommodation.
    • The playing field, including sufficient space for a sports pitch and
running track for Freshford School, playground facilities, and a Pre-school
    garden.
