The Centre has established a regional and national reputation for the quality of both its public concert series and its education and outreach programme. The concert programme encompasses classical, jazz, folk and world music promoting established musicians and exceptional upcoming young musicians. One of the finest purpose-built concert halls in the UK, Wiltshire Music Centre is a warm intimate space with great sightlines and an outstanding acoustic – said to be the best outside London. The Centre serves a wide rural catchment and for many of the residents in this area, it will be their only opportunity to access concerts of such high quality.
Alongside its concert programme the Centre runs a far-reaching education outreach programme together with regular music activities for all ages, abilities and backgrounds. All of the education projects are fundraised for and run on an individual basis. Over the past 14 years the Centre has run over 60 creative music projects with over 21,000 children and adults and 180 schools. Since opening we have run 18 projects with learning disabled children and young adults, and a biennial Special Schools Festival for all the Special Schools in Wiltshire. For 3 years we have run 10 music clubs a year for learning disabled adults.
