  • Mission statement

Nettlestead and Wateringbury Pre-School and Out of Schools Club acitivities are based around the Early Years Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum. This includes free and structure play, arts and crafts, cooking sessions, early reading and writing, maths exploration and early computer skills. We have a rising fives group, “Fledglings”, who spend time together in the two terms before joining school exploring and expanding the skills they will need for primary education. Our sessions are planned using long, medium and short term plans. We are a “learning through play” pre-school where the children are able to develop skills and ideas through the concept of play.

We believe that all children should be respected and their individuality and potential recognised, valued and nurtured. Activities and the use of play equipment offer children the opportunity to develop socially and physically, and help widen their knowledge of the world. We praise positive behaviour and encourage children to take responsibility for their actions. In cases of negative behaviour, we never threaten or use physical punishment or humiliation, instead we give one to one support in seeing what is wrong thus developing a better pattern of behaviour.

We are a non-profit making charity pre-school and are run by a voluntary Committee.
