Hull Community Church

Since 1980, Hull Community Church (reg. Charity 518463) has helped establish and offers ongoing support to projects that are working with older people, those with disabilities, excluded young people, parents/carers, children, the unemployed, women/teenagers suffering unwanted pregnancy, offenders, drug and alcohol users, those who are homeless, and women in prostitution. We have hundreds of volunteers who provide care and practical support to help improve people’s lives and tackle the severe deprivation in our area. We have encouraged many of those who come to us for help to become volunteers themselves, helping and supporting one another, rebuilding community spirit, and re-integrating those who are struggling on the edge of society.

We recently completed the construction of a new £2. 2 million centre, enabling us to expand our existing work, as well as developing new projects in the community. This building is the only purpose-built community centre in our area and has become an anchor for the community, now used by over a hundred local groups to run a variety of activities. Thanks to the new centre, the quality and quantity of our support into the community has greatly increased, exceeding our expectations in the first year. Since opening, we have provided space and support for nearly 15,000 people – more than treble the number who accessed our old building.
