Expand is an educational charity operating mainly in Malawi, Africa and builds infrastructure such as schools, blocks, libraries and community centres and facilitates trainings of all kinds.
Expand aims to assist in the prevention and relief of poverty anywhere in the world, but mainly Malawi, Central Africa, by assisting in the provision of education, training, health care projects and all the necessary support to help individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self sufficient.
To date we have built a full primary school consisting of four double classroom blocks, teachers houses, boreholes, ablution facilities, libraries, ICT centres, and other associated buildings. We welcome volunteers to come and help at the school which is located in Chisala Village, Nkhata Bay District, Northern Malawi. We have expanded into the neighbouring Mzimba District as well and are helping existing schools there.
We also help in the general communities, focusing our attention on the needs of secondary school students, women and have set up literacy and feeding programmes. Food security is directly linked to the success of education in poor rural Africa. Our secondary school bursary scheme helps ensure that students can continue onwards and upwards into secondary and tertiary education and become the future leaders of the country.
We have the strong support of central and Local Education Authorities and work closely with them and local chiefs. Please see www. Xpand. Org. Uk for more information and pictures.
