North Bristol Community Project

North Bristol Community Education (NBCP) is a volunteer led, local charity with 34 years experience of supporting disadvantaged people in our local community. NBCP offers educational courses, training, employment and leisure activities to people on low incomes as well as the wider community.
We are in need of funding to continue our work through 2017 and beyond.

  • Mission statement

    The Project aims to:
    Provide a community resource centre and meeting place for the local community and beyond. NBCP delivers
    recreational, therapeutic and work orientated adult dommunity education classes, activities and workshops, with a wide range of subjects, of interest to all members of the community.
    NBCP responds to local needs, supporting services that our participants inform us of benefit to them.
    Classes can include Art, Drawing, Crafts, Languages, Counselling service, Advice, Guidance, Catering training, Textiles training, Computer Classes and Internet access.
    NBCP also supports homeless people by providing them with bedding, clothing, small food parcels & other items to enable them to maintain a healthier life.

  • Aims

    North Bristol Community Project aims to:

    • To promote well-being and reduce social isolation, in particular amoung the elderly, providing low cost, itergenerational, inclusive activities.
    • Provide volunteer opportunities for retirees, the unemployed, students and interns wishing to improve their employability or simply participate in civic society.
    • Consult with local residents and particular interest groups ( people suffering with mental health issues, the long term unemployed, vulnerable adults) to identify needs which informs delivery.
    • Supporting disadvantaged groups: BME, women, asylum seekers, refugees, low income families by providing low cost products and services, as well as a hot meal, a friendly ear and a warm welcome.
    • Create a vibrant community hub where creatives young and old can come together, showcase their work and connect with a wider audience, sell their creations and develop enterprise skills.
