Charity information

Hearing Help Essex Limited

Hearing Help Essex is a Charity working in Chelmsford and Mid Essex whose aim is to relieve the isolation and loneliness of those with an acquired hearing loss, by offering practical help, support and guidance. We have a team of trained volunteers who carry out cleaning and basic maintenance to NHS hearing aids and help users understand the controls and fitting of the hearing aid. An improperly fitted or dirty hearing aid will not work.

Founded 1996

  • Mission statement

Hearing loss is a hidden disability, they have no white stick or wheelchair and all too frequently they receive rude treatment from others who assume they are ignoring them when in fact they have not heard them. We work with those who have always lived in the hearing world and now find themselves unable to communicate effectively and enjoy everyday pleasures such as listening to the TV and radio. We seek to increase deaf awareness of service providers through Deaf Awareness Training and the public through talks to local groups and clubs.
