  • Mission statement

St Wilfrid's Hospice is a registered charity in East Sussex serving a population of 230,000 from Eastbourne, Polegate, Pevensey, Seaford, Hailsham, Heathfield, Uckfield and everywhere in between. It provides skilled and compassionate care and treatment for all patients with complex needs as they near the end of life. We work with others to influence the quality of end of life care in hospitals, nursing homes and care homes.

  • Aims

St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) aims to:

    • We are building a new Hospice with more in-patient beds to accommodate the growing demand in the local community for in-patient care. The new Hospice will be finished in 2013 and will have 20 beds.
    • We are expanding our Hospice at Home community nursing to enable more people to remain at home during their illness and to be able to die at home if that is their wish.
    • In our new Hopsice will be a well-being clinic where patients can receive therapies such as complementary therapy, physiotherapy and attend clinics with patients who are experiencing the same problems
    • We shall also have a traning and education centre where St Wilfrid's staff will train other local healthcare professionals in care for the dying eg doctors, community nurses and care home staff.
    • We wish to harness compassion in the local community to help both terminally ill people and those older residents where there is social isolation via a team of Community Ambassadors.
