Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to provide a Park where local residents and visitors of all ages can enjoy open green spaces and take part in recreation and leisure time activities. This will be achieved through inclusive partnerships between the Friends of Highfield Road Park, local authorities, voluntary and other organisations. We work with the local council to continue to make improvements on the Park, through fundraising activities and general ‘Park Tidy Ups’ which involve the local community and other visitors to Blackpool.
Our activities range from Park Tidy Ups/Bulb Planting, giving talks to local schools about the park and how youngsters can get involved, installing Bat Boxes for conservation purposes, holding Community Fun Days and in previous years we have run weekly Tennis sessions. We currently run Crown Green Youth bowling sessions for youngsters in the summer. We have created a Community Garden from a disused bowling green and have a small group of community gardeners who meet on a regular basis to maintain the newly created Community Sensory Garden which is a fabulous open green space for everyone to use.

  • Aims

Friends Of Highfield Road Park aims to:

    • To enable young children to enjoy using the Park for leisure purposes, sporting use and general involvement in maintaining the park. Giving them a life-long Love of using the park.
    • To establish an acceptable balance between the needs of dog owners and the needs of other Park users.
    • To provide a link between the local community and the Parks Department of Blackpool Council, which facilitates co-operation in fulfilment of the Group’s aims.
    • To encourage wider community participation in organizing the Park, assisting with current and developing projects that will improve the Park.
    • To raise funds to ensure sustainability of the Group, which will enable us to keep improving the park.
