Rescuing, re-homing and rehabilitating abandoned cats and kittens. Promoting responsible pet ownership and educating the public on animal welfare.

Founded 2009

  • Mission statement

Bolton & Bury Cat Rescue is a animal welfare charity formed to help cats /kittens that have been abandoned, ill-treated, neglected or are unwanted for whatever reason, in the Bolton, Bury and Greater Manchester area.

We are a small charity but we mean business! We were formed when a few cat mad volunteers put £10 in pot to respond to the growing number of abandoned cats and kittens in the local area. We formed at the end of 2009 and we haven’t looked back since, helping hundreds of cats and kittens.

Our volunteers run every aspect of the charity in their spare time and alongside their full time jobs, uni studies and demanding home lives. The work we do includes shifts at the cats pens, fostering animals, vet runs, home visits, collecting cats, the admin, finance and banking work, maintaining the websites , manning the phone and emails, arranging fundraising events , publicity, education and much more. Some cats due to their horrific experiences have lost all confidence in humans and our volunteers invest hours with them so the cat might start to trust humans again and eventually find a loving forever home.

Our cats are looked after either in our cat pens or by our volunteer fosterers

Before our cats/kittens are adopted we spay/neuter (those old enough), vaccinate, microchip and treat for fleas and worms.

Bolton & Bury Cat Rescue receives no government funding or grants, and are entirely dependent on our own fundraising and donations from our supporters.
