Be Child Cancer Aware

Our charity raises awareness of Cancer in Children, Teenagers & Young Adults through our Awareness Card campaign. We also support children going through treatment through the Beads of Courage program

Founded 2011

  • Mission statement

Our Mission is to provide information in order to raise awareness of Cancer in Children, Teenagers and Young Adults by distributing our signs and symptoms of childhood cancer awareness cards. We also continue to support Children and Teenagers going through Cancer Treatment by implementing the Beads of Courage programme into the UK hospital network.

We have produced an Awareness Card which details the main signs and symptoms of Cancer in Children and Teenagers. This Awareness Card will be delivered to 12,000,000 school age children at 35,000 schools throughout the UK.

To date, we have sent over 3,000,000 Awareness Cards to 10,000 Primary Schools and cards have also been given out at events.

Our aim is to raise sufficient funds to complete the remainder of this programme within the next 2 years.

The Beads of Courage Programme is a new concept being introduced in the UK which is designed to support children going through their treatment. It allows them to tell their story using colourful beads. The beads are used as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate different milestones such as blood transfusions, bone marrow transplants, hospital stays, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. Their beads build up over time into a unique record of what they have been through. Some days are really tough for these kids. However, the beads are used for encouragement and say to everyone “that was tough…. But…. I did it”
