School Food Matters campaigns for fresh sustainable food in schools and promotes food education through cooking growing and links with local farms.

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to ensure that every child enjoys fresh sustainable food at school and understands where their food comes from.

To achieve this we listen to schools, parents and children. Together we urge local authorities to improve school meals and to support food education through cooking, growing and links with local farms.

    • We campaign nationally with partner charities to improve the quality of food in schools and to ensure that children get the opportunity to cook and grow food at school.

    • We provide targeted support to local authorities, schools and families to help them provide the best possible school meal services.

    • We manage food education projects for schools in London and, with our partners, a national competition or event.

  • Aims

    School Food Matters aims to:

    • To encourage and monitor good practice in the provision of and access to fresh and sustainable food in schools.
    • To carry on activities to advance food education and promote fresh, healthy and sustainable food for schoolchildren and their families.
