Mission statement
Projects to Support Refugees from Burma funds educational and humanitarian projects in some of the nine overcrowded refugee camps dotted along the Thai-Burma border. Help 4 Forgotten Allies, currently our major project provides 2nd WW veterans and widows with small annual grants. Most of the inmates of the camps, vast human warehouses - currently 141,890 - are Karen or Karenni, so-called ‘hill tribes’, persecuted, or worse, by the succession of ethnic Burman-dominated military governments. Although the political climate appears now to be rapidly changing, the camps remain, and refugees continue to arrive.
