Alternatives gives free help to those affected by an unplanned pregnancy or pregnancy loss through miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion and teaches young people about the risks involved in having sex.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

Alternatives, Bourne provides free counselling, advice and support to women and their families affected by an unplanned pregnancy or pregnancy loss through miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion.
For people experiencing an unplanned pregnancy we offer time to talk in a non-clinical environment and explore fully the three options available to them of parenting, abortion or adoption.
For those facing difficulties following a termination of pregnancy or any pregnancy loss we offer a 10 week free counselling course called “The Journey” which helps women and their partners through any emotional difficulties they may be experiencing. The course has a very positive effect on families and women’s mental health.
We are able to support young parents through our under 21’s Mums to Be antenatal retreat days. We also offer free baby clothes and equipment to those in need.
For those choosing to release their child for adoption we are able to offer continuing support through and after the adoption process.
We work with teachers and healthcare professionals in Peterborough and South Lincolnshire to boost student’s self esteem and educate teenagers about healthy lifestyle choices, and the risks involved in becoming sexually active.
We run Jeans Youth Café for young people aged 14-18 providing them with a safe place and contemporary environment to socialise with their friends at the weekend, off the streets and away from alcohol, one of the main causes of unintended teenage pregnancies.
